After a dismal first six seasons in the majors, the 1969 Mets pulled off one of the most miraculous upsets in World Series history—a feat their fans would rank higher than putting a man on the moon. Fifteen years later the Mets came within one strike of losing the World Series in game six when New Yorkers witnessed yet another miracle and the team went on to capture the title in seven games.
