The Mariners were created as the result of a lawsuit filed by the city against the American League after the Seattle Pilots took off in the middle of the night for Milwaukee to become the Brewers. The lawsuit was won and seven years later the Mariners took the field. The team grinded it out in those early years but suffered fourteen consecutive losing seasons. It wouldn’t be until the 1990s when players like Ken Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson and Edgar Martinez took the helm and steered the team towards winning baseball.
Our M’s pennant was inspired by the team’s formative years and features their original “trident M” with their old school blue and yellow color scheme, which was also worn by their predecessors, the Pilots.
